Tatsyana Karatkevich, who is deemed to be the only democratic candidate in Belarus’s presidential elections scheduled for October 11, published her presidential program on September 14 (http://zapraudu.info/karatkevich-initiative-group/program/).

According to the document, Belarus’s social policies should be based on «the principle of equal opportunities» as well as on «social justice and social solidarity.» Karatkevich promises free state-run health care and free public higher education for all citizens as well as a pension reform that will set up private pension funds along with the state-run ones. She wants to reform the sphere of labor relations by revising the current contract job system in Belarus.

In the sphere of foreign relations Tatsyana Karatkevich opts for a «truly multi-vector foreign policy without unnecessary bias to the East or the West.» She also opposes the creation of foreign military bases and the deployment of foreign troops in Belarus.

Apart from the incumbent president, Alyaksandr Lukashenka, there are also two other candidates, Syarhey Haydukevich and Mikalay Ulakhovich, in the ongoing presidential campaign. However, both Haydukevich and Ulakhovich are widely seen as ersatz candidates who were allowed to participate in the race just to avoid a boycott scenario in which no other candidate would run to challenge Lukashenka.
